Unternehmen

Company

The GdW Federal Association of German Housing and Real Estate Companies is the largest German industry umbrella organization and represents around 3,000 municipal, cooperative, church, private, state and federal housing companies nationwide and at European level. They manage approx. 6 million apartments in which over 13 million people live. With its 14 regional member associations, the GdW represents housing companies that manage almost 30 percent of all rental apartments in Germany.

Motivation for participating in Future Living® Berlin

The GdW has been working intensively on applications in the field of smart living since the beginning of the new millennium. The first projects by housing companies date from this time. Smart living holds great potential for the housing industry.

The special challenge: As before, many technical solutions are tailored to one and two-family houses. With the joint platform consortium project „Platform for context-sensitive, intelligent and forward-looking smart living services – ForeSight“, the previously little noticed and often by tenant inhabited area of multi-family houses has come into public focus. With more than 22.2 million apartments it makes up half of the total housing stock.

The lighthouse project Future Living® Berlin serves as an exciting and at the same time most important real test environment for all consortium partners. The project will make a major contribution to creating the technical and economic prerequisites for affordable technology and services in apartment buildings: from the safe operation of residential buildings to energy-saving solutions for building operators and tenants and everyday support technology and services for tenants of all generations.
