Polarstern wurde 2011 gegründet und zählt heute zu den renommiertesten Ökoenergieversorgern und Mieterstromdienstleistern in Deutschland. Wir planen, realisieren und betreiben Mieterstromprojekte in ganz Deutschland. Die Mieterstrommodelle reichen vom Enabling bis zum Full-Service-Contracting. Insbesondere die integrierte Energieversorgung mit Strom-, Wärme- und Mobilitätsleistungen gewinnt an Bedeutung. Ob Neubau, Bestandsimmobilie, Wohn-, Geschäftsgebäude oder denkmalgeschützte Bauten, unsere Referenzen sind so vielfältig wie unser Mieterstrom-Team. Motivation für die Beteiligung an Future Living® Berlin
Ein integraler Bestandteil des künftigen Wohnens ist Mieterstrom. Es eröffnet über die Strom- und Wärmeversorgung hinaus, den Weg zu neuen Dienstleistungen etwa im Bereich des Smart Homes und der Elektromobilität sowie zu effizienten Versorgungslösungen.
Wird über Bewohner, Heizungsanlagen, Stromspeicher, Elektroautos und Co. hinweg Energie geteilt, wie es bei Mieterstrom der Fall ist, bietet das eine Vielzahl an Chancen direkt für die Bewohner, aber auch für die städtische Entwicklung, die Energiewende und den Klimaschutz. Schließlich können durch eine lokale Abstimmung von Energieerzeugung und -bedarf, Ressourcen und Prozesse effizienter und CO2 sparend gestaltet werden. Auch die Netzinfrastruktur wird entlastet, da es keinen beziehungsweise nur noch einen reduzierten Stromtransport über die großen Übertragungsnetze bedarf.

Lösungen für Future Living® Berlin
Auf den Dächern von Future Living® Berlin erzeugen Solarmodule Strom zur Energieversorgung der Bewohner:innen. Außerdem werden 25 Wärmepumpen
sowie Batterie- und Wärmespeicher mit dem Solarstrom versorgt, die so ihrerseits Wärmeenergie bereitstellen. Das ermöglicht eine 100 % erneuerbare Strom- und Wärmeversorgung. Auch Ladestationen für Elektrofahrzeuge auf örtlichen Parkplätzen werden mit dem lokal erzeugten Strom versorgt. So entsteht ein komplett über die drei Sektoren Strom, Wärme und Mobilität vernetztes, erneuerbares Energiekonzept.
Insgesamt ist das Quartier mit der vernetzten Energieversorgung zu 38 % autark, sprich unabhängig vom öffentlichen Stromnetz. Das reduzierte die Stromkosten bzw. Mietnebenkosten der Bewohner:innen spürbar. Und es ist ein wichtiger Beitrag zur städtischen Energiewende und für mehr Klimaschutz. Jeder Haushalt senkt mit Mieterstrom direkt seinen CO2-Fußabdruck um viele Tonnen CO2 pro Jahr.

Founded in 2011, Polarstern has become one of Germany’s best-known green energy suppliers and service providers for urban microgrids like tenant electricity (in German: Mieterstrom). Changing the world with energy is our goal, taking our progress into ground-breaking new areas. We plan, implement and operate Mieterstrom projects throughout Germany with different models ranging from enabling to full-service contracting. Integrated energy provision with electricity, heat and mobility services is becoming increasingly significant in particular. Motivation for the Engagement in Future Living® Berlin
Mieterstrom is an integral element of housing of the future. Reaching beyond the supply of electricity and heat, it opens the way to new services, such as for smart homes and electromobility, as well as to efficient supply solutions.
If energy is shared among residents, heating plants, energy storage systems, electric cars and so on, as with Mieterstrom, many opportunities are created not only for the residents directly, but also for urban development, energy transformation and climate protection. After all, local coordination of energy production and demand can make resources and processes more efficient and save CO2. The grid infrastructure is also unburdened, since little or no electricity needs to be moved across the large transmission grids.

Solutions provided for Future Living® Berlin

On the rooftops of Future Living® Berlin, solar modules generate electricity to supply the residents with energy. In addition, 25 heat pumps as well as battery and heat storage systems are supplied with the solar power, which in turn provide thermal energy. This enables a 100 % renewable supply of heat and electricity. Charging stations for electric vehicles in local car parks are also supplied with the locally generated electricity. The result is a renewable energy concept that is completely networked across the three sectors of electricity, heat, and mobility.
The neighbourhood is 38% self-sufficient overall with the networked energy supply, i.e. independent of the public electricity grid. This has noticeably reduced the electricity costs and additional rental costs for the residents. It also makes an important contribution to urban energy transformation and greater climate protection. Through Mieterstrom, every household directly reduces its carbon footprint by many tons of CO2 per year.
